NLB contributes to local school library
On Monday 29th February 2016 the Mayor of Coalville and North-West Leicestershire, Councillor John Bridges visited Belvoirdale Community Primary School and after, a tour of the school, he officially cut the ribbon and performed the opening ceremony for the school’s new library. The library looks wonderful and the children are very excited about all the new books. The school wants to inspire all its pupils with a love of reading and they feel that the new library will be a great contribution to achieving that aim. Enjoyment and pleasure in reading is so important for improving life chances for children.
Mr Gareth King, Year 3/4 Teacher at the school, visited the NLB breakfast meeting on 12th February to talk to members about the school’s commitment to reading and the library project, as a result the NLB donated £200 towards new books. Interim Head Teacher, Rose Payne said that now that the school’s got the books and the room, our next target is the furniture, such as comfortable chairs, sofas etc. Belvoirdale will need to do some fund-raising for this – so watch this space!
